The Care Ministry takes a holistic approach to health care, bringing together faith and health to promote the wellness of and serve the needs of the parish.
Saints Francis & Clare organizes a Blood Drive approximately every 12 weeks, depending on the time of the year and the parish calendar. The Indiana Blood Center sets up a professional and sanitary collection area on the campus. Sign-up sheets are usually at the Information Desk at least two weeks before the date of the Blood Drive. This is an important parish outreach event that takes so little time, but can actually save a life.
Our next Blood Drive is scheduled for Saturday,
March 11, 2017. Come help save a life!
Caregiver Support Group
Our Caregiver Support Group meets once a month to offer support to individual caregivers through prayer, providing information, and serving as a general support resource.
For more information, contact Lee McLaughlin, 888-7757.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
A prayer shawl is a shawl that has been knitted or crocheted for someone in which prayers and blessings have become as much a part of the fabric of the crocheted item as the yarn itself. Our group of women (but men are certainly not excluded) meet regularly off campus to knit and crochet while exchanging fellowship and needlework tips. Please contact the Care Ministry, 859-4673 for more information.
Senior Exercise Classes
Our Care Ministry offers two weekly exercise classes for our senior parishioners over the age of 50.
- Senior Yoga is currently offered on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am in the Hospitality Room.
- Senior Core Strengthening Exercises is offered on Thursday mornings at 9:00 am in the Hospitality Room.
Blood Pressure Screening
Blood Pressure Screening is offered to parishioners, free of charge, once a month after the 8:45 am Sunday Mass. The procedure is confidential.
Check the weekly bulletin or look for the Blood Pressure Screening sign to find the Screening room.
Senior Mass and Lunch
Senior Mass and Lunch is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual and social fellowship for adults 55 and older.
A special 11:00 am Mass is held once a month for our group, followed by a pitch-in luncheon. The main dish is usually taken care of by the parish, but occasionally a friendly competition is held to see who makes the best chili, soup or salad. Bring your favorite side dish or dessert and share your culinary talents. It's a very nice (and yummy) way to spend an afternoon!
Communion of the Sick and Homebound
Volunteers in this ministry make regular visits to homes and hospitals to visit parishioners who are sick or homebound and distribute Communion. If you feel a calling to this ministry, please contact the Care Ministry, 859-4673, ext. 119.
Funeral Planning Assistance
The Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi Care Ministry coordinator is available to assist and support those who have lost a loved one. Please call (317) 859-4673 x 119 if we can help you in your time of loss.
