We pride ourselves as providing a 21st century Catholic education in which skills such as collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity are fostered in each child. Our teachers and classrooms provide a nurturing, safe, and faith-based environment where every child is challenged to succeed.

We use a variety of data to layer students and create individualized instruction. Teachers meet students at their level with curriculum that enables students to feel both challenged and successful.

Our teachers participate in ongoing professional development that allows them to stay at the forefront of research-based best practices.

Our students and teachers also use technology as a tool for teaching and learning. From Promethean Boards and Apple TV in each classroom, iPads and laptops in the primary grades, we view technology as a tool to help students think critically and globally.

Starting with the 2011-12 academic year, the State Board of Education adopted the use of a new methodology for determining a school's grade, A-F. Since incorporating this model, Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi School has consistently received an "A" rating from the State of Indiana. We are proud to boast this rating as it reflects our commitment to academic excellence.

RESPONSE TO INSTRUCTION (RTI)

SSFC's RTI program is designed to provide additional, more individualized instruction for students needing extra support for skills including oral reading fluency, reading comprehension, writing, and math fact fluency/problem solving.  RTI teachers meet with students 4 times a week to focus on improving these skills. They are in frequent communication with teachers on their students' progress and goals within each intervention.

Our special education teachers offer in-classroom support as well as one-on-one individual instruction to ensure that students work toward their goals and receive the resources they need to succeed independently.  The RTI Team works with their students to help them reach individual goals academically, socially, and emotionally.
